About the energetic and exciting waterborne

Sian and Drew opened the waterborne doors on Saturday May 26th 2006, welcoming family, friends and guests to share the start of their new venture in Porthleven.

Drew Pilley

Started paddling in 1988 whilst on an outdoor education course taught by the likes of Chris Blakey and Stuart Wagstaff from there proceeded to work at centres around the country such as Benmore in Scotland, Outward Bound in Wales and Little Killary in Ireland. Drew has kayaked extensively in Scotland and North Wales and also paddled in Nepal and the French Alps. With a slight change of tack he attended a course in boat building in Falmouth which brought him to Cornwall. With both his outdoor and boat building skills he was able to secure work with Truro College as technician and a lecturer on the outdoor education programs and is currently the principal of the R.Y.A.centre. Sian Pilley

Is from Cornish stock and has an infinity with all things Cornish, especially when it comes to the beaches and stunning scenery of the cliffs where the land meets the sea.

With a background in the arts Sian completed a degree in art in a social context at Bristol before going on to do a PGCE at Marjon in Plymouth and gaining qualified teacher status.

Sian has worked at a number of schools in Cornwall, including Porthleven, and now works part time for Cornwall Music service teaching music in primary schools.

As well as running the business with Drew, she also enjoys being a Mum and looking after Ivy and Arlo, Sian and Drews young and lively children!

Sian also has a background in stories and story telling and believes this to be an important part of community life and often gets involved with organising community projects and devising Cornish curriculum material for schools.

Sian is keen to develop waterborne and its position within the community of Porthleven hopefully inspiring children including Ivy and Arlo with the taste and smell of the sea.

Also a keen musician, Sian is always up for a good knees up.
